A Travalogue
I always loved rain. It was raining slightly that Saturday, when Muneeb arrived at the door of our house. Me and Hareesh were relaxing in the cosy comfort rain always brought with her. Rainy days always spurred action in me. We made a very quick decision to go to akulam. Akulam was quite near to us and if my intuition is correct it is only 7 to 10 kilometers away from Sreekaryam. Raining had stopped when we boarded our bikes and started the journey. The cool and refreshing ambience that rain brought with her still remained. Bike riding is a pleasure in that kind of an atmosphere. Enjoying the cool breeze that soothed our senses and the mesmerizing sceneries, we reached Akulam. The place did not have its usual number of visitors that day. A nostalgic silence prevailed there. The cloudy atmosphere added to it. Nearly all the shops nearby were closed except one tea shop. We decided to have some refreshments. A nearly deserted children’s park was our next destination. I and Muneeb used the opportunity to take a few swings. So much was the fun that we did not notice the few girls strolling through the park. Hareesh sir used this opportunity to display a few acrobatics. We savored the unusually deserted atmosphere of the park. It was like we went a few years back. We had a park on our own to enjoy. After taking a few snaps we decided to look for other possibilities. At first it seemed there was not even any remote chance for boating. The river was placid under the dark sky. It was one of the beautiful sights I had seen in my life. It seemed that for a moment I have transcended worldly pleasures. The cool breeze that brought with it the nasty smell of the industrial pollutants hurled me back. Looking back we saw some movements in the boat office. After some bargaining they decided to permit us to go for boating. It was a four seated pedal boat. After the park it appeared that we have a river for us. It was a really enjoyable half an hour ride in the river. We took off to veli after akulam engagement. A beautiful sight of sea river intersection awaited us there. The river was flowing madly. It seemed that she had gathered more strength and power from the sea. It was a wonderful display of the raw strength of nature in its fullest. Situations like this always reminded me how vast this world is and how small we human are. There were number of sculptures in the park. I felt that most of the sculptures were beyond my understanding. I could not find any remote connection between it and its description written in tiny planks besides it. After a few walks in the park, finally we decided to retire.
